WHAT'S IN MY BAG - UPDATED

Monday, 1 September 2014

Hi guys! I thought I would update you with 'whats in my bag' since its been about a year since I last posted a 'whats in my bag' so...

My bag is actually from Primark and I got it about a month and a half ago, because although I have a load of bags, the Marc B one I was using had broke (zip) and I really wanted this one because it's very similar to the Zara City Girl Office Bag (or whatever the name of it is) and it's black. It has a 3 compartments, the main bag area then on either side to quite spacious zip compartments, which is very handy..

Okay, so the first thing I pulled out my bag was my purse, obviously I always carry this with me because yours going to need money everywhere you go, so that's that. My purse is from Topshop and was £22 I think and I absolutely adore it and use it all the time and I actually need to stitch it because the inside stitching has worn away but yeah it is my favourite thing in my bag.

I thought I would just add a quick picture of my bank card because it is so cute with my picture of me and some friends whilst in Disneyland Paris and just how cute?!

The next thing I pulled out was my umbrella from H&M, I have just recently started carrying this all the time because I live in the UK and the weather is so unpredictable and to be honest, it rains everyday and I would forget to pick my brolly up on a morning and get soaked when the rain came. So now it just keep it in there all the time.

Make-up bag is an essential because through out the day I will top up my make up or put some lip balm on and its just easier to keep everything together in a little bag than the have it all over in your bag! My makeup bag is also from H&M and was £4.99.

Batise, Impulse body spray, hair grips and a pen, pretty much everything a girl would have in her bag. Self explanatory really..

I also always carry my Tangle Teezer because my hair goes really tatty in the wind so I can give it a quick brush if I need to. I also currently am carrying the book I am reading at the moment which I love and you should definitely check it out!

My charger is also something I carry with me everywhere because I am constantly on my phone listening to music or playing the Kim Kardashian game, so I need my battery to last for the day I am out and if not I can pit stop in Starbucks and recharge in there. I also had a Lipton Peach Ice Tea in my bag today because it was on special in a shop in town so I grabbed two of those but drank one already.. FACT: I don't actually like Tea but I do like this....

From the little pockets in side of my bag I pulled my Bus pass which gets me everywhere I go, a 10 pence which was change from my bus ticket, a Topshop Lipstick to remind me to top up my lippy and my housekey's which have a lot of disney key rings on.

From the first large side compartment I have a beautiful note book. I always carry this really cute little notebook around with me incase I ever need to jot anything down or I can write ideas I have for blogpost's or fashion inspiration and its the cutest thing ever. I got this from Home Sense and I think it was £6.99 but its a leather notebook and has little bells on the the string ties on the side.

And from the other side compartment I have CV's which I tend to carry with me because I am desperately looking for a job and the only way to get a job is handing your CV out everywhere you go. I also have a pair of sunglasses just in case the sun does ever come out (rarely) and I don't want to be blinded by it. The pair I have in my bag are just from primark but they are beautiful and I love them so that makes me happy, I also got the case from primark just to protect them but all together I dont think I paid more than £5 for the glasses and the case, so it was a bargain.

That is every thing that I have in my bag apart from some crumbs and stuff but yeah...

Rimmel London Apocalips Review

Sunday, 8 December 2013

Aloha,

A day late, but better than never. I did say I would try and do a blog post yesterday but it turned out I had a busy day. And then today, we had a christmas party at my dads and there was a lot of people and screaming children and just oh, overheating in my christmas jumper! So, I am only now getting around to writing this. (Whilst watching X-men: First Class -Jennifer Lawrence (perfection) wow)

I bought the Apocolips a few weeks ago just to try it out and for something different. Although its christmas time, I bought it in '400 Big Bang' which is a bright red. Normally for winter I would wear a dark lipstick, like a plum. But red is a christmas related colour so, who cares.

The liquid lipstick, last's for such a long time but I also find that it kind of stains your lips. Therefor, if I don't apply it correctly the first time (as I normally don't) I will walk around like a clown until it fades away.

When applied I find it goes a bit matte as well as having a tiny bit shine to it. When on the lips, it doesn't fully dry which means it is very easily smudged when coming into contact with things. I often find I run it all over my face. I don't even know how.  They are available in another several different colours; Apocaliptic, Big Bang, Nova, Stellar, Galaxy, Celestial, Luna and Nude Eclipse.

Overall, I think that the apocalips products are fantastic. The packaging is lovely and the colours are great also. I would recommend them.

Thanks for reading, Im sorry about the lateness of this post and the fact that my last ones have been so crappy. I promise to try and do better. -Lauryn xo

Ps. Here are picture's of my two favourite people ever. In the world.

Winter Makeup Tutorial..

Tuesday, 5 November 2013

Aloha!

Welcome November! One month closer to Christmas! I have just learnt how to knit and Im currently trying to make a scarf, therefor it is christmas time! Today I have a winter make up tutorial since I'm off to a bonfire night tonight to celebrate Guy Fawkes and it is winter and freezing!!

The first thing I start with is washing my face, using Simple Moisturising Facial Wash. Followed by the Simple Moisturising Cream. I also apply my rosebud salve to moisturise my very very dry lips ready for lipstick at the end. Once a week I also exfoliate my skin with the Simple Exfoliating face wipes.
A prepared face.

From that stage I apply my foundation. The foundation i am using at the moment is the new L'oreal Nude Magique Eau De Tint. It is a very light liquid foundation. Normally I would use a brush to apply my foundation but because of how liquify (runny) this is I apply little bits to my finger tip and apply it like that. Once all my face is evenly covered, I then apply Collections Concealer to my under eyes and any necessary place for the extra little coverage. I normally use the Real Techniques dark shadow brush to dab it on and evenly spread.

Foundation and Concealer Done.

Moving onto my eyes. The first thing I do is primer my eyelids with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and also use the same brush as the concealer one, to spread it out. The three colours I use for my winter look is Sin, Toasted and Hustle. All three colours from the Naked Palette. Starting with Sin, I use the brush that comes with the palette and put it all over my eye lid, but no higher than the crease. After that, I take a one of my Frauline 58 eye shadow brushes and apply Toasted into the crease of my eye lid then Blend it with a different Frauline 58 brush. Taking a different smaller Frauline 58 brush I then add Hustle the outer side of my eye lid. Again blending with the before Frauline 58 brush.
Sin, Toasted and Hustle

After my eyeshadow is done I then add mascara and eyeliner. The mascara I am currently using is the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast and the MUA Liquid Waterproof Eyeline. Additionally, I also fill in my eyebrows with Betty Br-WOW! Using the Shadow like filler. I tend to give my eyebrow's structure there for use a very titled brush.

Finished Eyes.

Having finished my eyes I then quickly brush over with Collection's Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Powder. It keep everything in place. I use the Real Techniques Stippling Brush for this.

I don't like to go totally over on blusher so I only add a little bit of my Naked Blusher for a rosy cheek affect with the Real Techniques Blush Brush.

]

And the very last thing I do is add my Lipstick. I feel the YSL one is appropriate for winter because it has the Dark winter look about it.

And that's all to my Winter Makeup Tutorial. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and have a great Bonfire night! Thanks for reading! -Lauryn xo

What's in my bag?

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

Aloha Hoaloha,
This past week has been so great. College is going really well (a lot of work though) but still really well in and in general has been great. Last Tuesday I went to a Student Lock-in and got some great stuff which I may do a post about next week as part of a Collective Haul (thoughts on this?). But for now I have a 'Whats in my bag' post for you guys. I will also try to add the links for certain items in the image description.

My everyday use bag is the H&M black handbag with a should strap. I personally think the bag looks a lot like the Zara City Office Girl Bag, but is better in price and more is sturdy. (If sturdy is what you like). It has a zip running across the top and also press studs on the side which allows the bag to become more spacious. (If you need it.) Although it is not  sectioned like the Zara bag, it does still have a zip pocket on the inside and two other pockets.  It is genuinely a great bag for the price of £29.99.
So the first thing I have in my bag is my college work. I normally carry my sketch pads or folders in a seperate bag (usually my primark canvas bag) just to even out the weight of my bags and so it doesn't damage my handbag (weight wise). One thing I do carry in my handbag though is my Minnie Mouse pencil case. It is full to the brim with pencils, pens, rubbers, scissors, glue, staplers and just any stationary you can think of really. I find it really helpful to have this on me at all times, because you never really know when you will need some scissors or a pen. Especially being a fashion and design student.

Memory Sticks are a must have! There is not one day in college that I have come across I havent used my memory stick. Most days I will forget my Sunderland College one because I have left it in my computer from doing work the night before. Which is why I carry my back up memory stick. I find saving work on both of the sticks is very handy if you have a terrible memory like me!

I always carry my glasses around (if I am not wearing them). I need to wear them for most parts of the day so it is best to always have them in my handbag.

iPhone chargers are always a great thing to carry around with you because if your like me and are constantly playing candy crush or listening to music on your phone, your battery dies so quickly. More than often I will find somewhere in college I can plug my phone in or if I am out and about I will find somewhere like Starbucks where I can quickly put my phone on charge while re-freshing with a Caramel Cream Frappuccino. Another handy thing to have it headphone. Although mine are very worn they are still great to have when your just getting on with some work in your own little work with your music. Or for bus journeys so I can listen to Demi Lovato, Oasis, Paloma Faith and so on..

My purse is another important thing in my handbag. My purse is from Asos and was about £15 I think. I normally keep paracetamols and my house key in my purse as well as cards and money.

Important cards I keep in my purse are ones like my provision driving license, student card, bus pass, student discount card and my donor card. (my bank card also~ but only for emergencies).

As I mentioned before I always keep my house key in my purse because I find I always forget my house key and am locked out the one day I forget to take it. Having it in my purse means I (hopefully) don't loose it or forget it.

Other things I find are good to have with my are products like Garnier Mineral Deodorant, perfumes (ususally Marc Jacobs Daisy or Paco Rabanne Black XS), Hand Sanitizer and a lint roller (I always end up with threads all over me and the end of a college day)
Daisy By Marc Jacobs- http://www.theperfumeshop.com/fcp/product/fragrances/-/Daisy/2631?sku=1062967
Black XS by Paco Rabanne http://www.boots.com/en/Paco-Rabanne-Black-XS-for-Her-Eau-de-Toilette-50ml_48045/
Beauty products I have are normally lip balms like the Baby Lips (Cherry Me, Pink Punch or Peach Kiss)  or Rosebud Salve. I also like to have to different options of lipsticks so I always carry Rimmel London's Lasting Finish By Kate (Moss) in Kiss of Life (111) which is a matte red. I think was about £5. And the other is YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in a dark plum burgundy colour. I always have a hair brush with me aswell. My hairbrush is super cute being Rupunzel. I also normally carry my Tangle Teezer. But I think I have left it at my dads (oopsies) having been there at the weekend. Tangle Teezers are great however and I would really recommend them to anyone who does not have one already! Mine is from Boots and is in pink costing £10.99

Having a jotta pad with me always is great because you are always given something to jot down in college. Wether it is homework or just notes from a class. It's a good idea to have a jotta pad handy.

Im a big reader so if I have a free period or am on a bus journey alone, its great to be able to pull out a book and get lost in the world of fiction. The book I am currently reading is 'The Fault in our Stars' By John Green. I have already read this book but it is so good I just keep reading it. If you don't have any books to read you can always read a magazine. Vogue is the current magazine in my bag. It's a great read but also useful for college when looking for photography images or fashion illustrations.

So thats everything in my bag. It seems so much more writing it down than what it looks in my bag. I had some people on twitter ask for this post so I hope you guys like it. Next week Im hoping to do a collective haul post so that may be a little bit more interesting.

Thanks for reading guys!

Oh and sorry for the crappy pictures. I changed my bedding the other day so it doesn't look the same and I was kind of in a rush to take the photos! Apologies! x
